Established in 2002, Classic Cruises offers public cruises departing from Southgate and private charters departing from key locations along Melbourne’s waterways. With two unique riverboats to choose from, including the historic MV Grower, we are available day or night for both personal and corporate events. Take your time, whether you’re local or from abroad, escape the busy city streets and let the unique perspective of our scenic river cruises captivate and inspire, whilst listening to the Captain’s commentary.

We are available 7 days a week for private charters, including but not limited to riverfront event spaces, Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, birthday parties and wedding events.

MV Grower is an historic ferry built in 1924 and lovingly restored over a number of years by owner-operator Hamish Turner. Grower is the oldest vessel currently operating on the upper reaches of Melbourne’s once industrial waterways. Grower’s capacity for short transfers is up to 43, and up to 30 passengers for longer bookings.

The latest addition to Classic Cruises is new build MV Eureka, a river launch styled from the art deco period of the 1930s, able to carry 28 passengers, offering an intimate cruising experience.

We are available for educational cruises for school groups interested in the Yarra river’s history and environment.
